This is rnb at its worse..bland style hip hop/rnb beats over a good singers voice..the boy can sing for sure but apart from "take you down" and "with you" the quality control on this album is appalingly bad. i was actually listening to some 70's and 80's rnb today and it reminded me of how bad some modern soul/rnb is these days..theres no melody or musicality to most of the tracks. With you is a great track though but this isnt great at all.
went to see my first Boyzone concert this year - this is a great way to remember it
OH DEAR, OH DEAR,
HAVING JUST BOUGHT THIS. I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THE TRACKS WERE RE-MASTERED FROM THE ORIGINALS (WITH THE HELP OF MORRISSEY ? ?)
THEN WHO WAS THE PILLOCK THAT CHOPPED THE FULL FADE OFF "THAT JOKE ISN'T FUNNY ANYMORE" BUT LEFT THE FULL TIMING ON THE SLEEVE????
ANOTHER BRILLIANT OPPORTUNITY WASTED....
MORRISSEY AND WARNER BROTHERS.........HANG YOUR HEADS IN SHAME!!!
I am another who was fortunate enough to see one of his recent live concerts. Of course we were treated to all of his classics, plus a few tracks from this latest new album. These tracks were very pleasant and memorable. Infact, an exceptional set of songs that amount to an exceptional album.
This remakable return to form is acheived with songs written by other artists including John Lennon, U2, Tom Petty and Jackson Brown. Some of these tracks are quite addictive.
So, there it is. Not typical Glen Campbell perhaps, but certainly classical Glan Campbell. If this is your scene, then this album is a must.
Ignore the miseries, this is a really good rockin' album. I have kind of mocked these guys for years - yet having heard this CD I am amazed how many of the tunes I actually know and really like. You'll probably be the same. What more can I say? It's cheap as chips. Give it a listen. Hell Yeh!!!!
Wow. Could this album have any older tracks on it? I doubt it. These are all really old over played songs. Disapointed.
...the record company left a few other underrated gems like "Never Too Far" which was the second single from "Glitter" and many more from her previous catalogues.
I think the proper title should be "the incomplete ballads" or "evil marketing-ploy for stocking filler ballads" since Christmas is just around the corner. What a pity. Still a great collection but not an excellent one.
High School Musical is being talked about by teenager's everywhere, so I was determined to see what it was like. I asked someone I knew (who is obsessed with it) If I could borrow their copy of the soundtrack - And now I wish I hadn't. For staters the actual music is just over-used up beat dance tracks. With some weak mordern R and B thrown in. The things kicks of with a song entitled "Start of Something New". The song is merely just a badly written, horribly sang pop song. The vocals are very poor, there are signs of lack of emotion (in all the tracks). The second one, which is more of an R and B tune, is well irritating. The whole trainers squeeking in the back ground is simply annoying beyond beliefe. The "Gota getcha getcha getcha head in the game" just proves how weak and simplistic these lyrics really are. There is nothing fantastic about any of the songs - the ones sang by the blond girl are deffinatly the worst - she can sing...she's just horrible at it. I can't understand why something with such weak music, singing and lyrics has become to popular. I'm a pretty open minded person when it comes to music I listen to Metal, Rock, Rap, Punk, Pop, Dance, Classical, Reagge, World music, Folk, Eletronic ect but I can honestly say this should be left as a mat for your cup of tea.
This is an excellent record by any standards. This 60-year-old performer needs no indulgence from you - she sounds as if she has never been away. This is no coincidence, as she has reunited with both production teams that served up her greatest successes - the Sly'n'Robbie Compass Point Studio band as well as 'Slave to the Rhythm' collaborators. But there is no reliance on quirky cover versions this time. Over these nine songs Grace shows off not only her unique vocals but also more mature emotional subject-matter. She might be more tender but she's still magnificently scary. In fact this album makes her sound more than anything like the founder member of Massive Attack. A collaboration that can surely only be a matter of time...
