How can you argue with this band and their success so far? And before people think I just happen to be a sheep, I found Coldplay's Trouble and Yellow abhorrent. I was not convinced at all. However, I just love Coldplay's work from Parachutes (the two singles excepted) through to this latest installment. This is not an X&Y and is different thanks to the very positive influence of Brian Eno, a magician in his own right. The first 3 tracks just glide you through the listening experience but I struggle with 'Yes'. It is quite different from a typical Coldplay melody and reminds me of the French ambient/rock band, M83. Maybe that's a good thing. Not for me though. However, the two chart hits are just fantastic and uplifting. Not convinced by Strawberry Swing either but I like the way the album finishes. So what have we got then? Just another Coldplay album or have they tried something a little different? Indeed they have and for that they should be applauded as they attempt to evolve. As an album it works very well and it holds CD 4 in my car and will do so for a while. I can't give it 5 stars, it's just not as good as Parachutes for me but it's still a very good album. Don't denigrate, just appreciate.

Well I think this NOW cd has a great track listing, maybe not quite as good as NOW 69, but very close in my opinion! I don't know why they included 'Scooter - Jumping All over the World' on here, along with a few other songs I have never heard of...but the other great tracks make it only a small negative! I think it's a shame that Madonna won't allow her tracks on here, as 4 minutes is a very popular song that would have been great on NOW 70.

This album sounds like something amy winehouse would do but duffy's album is a bit more jazzy best tracks are mercy warwick avenue serious stepping stone and hanging on too long the only bad thing about this album is that it's too short 10 tracks only can't wait for her next album overall i give this album a 10/10 must buy! if you liked this album buy Frank (Deluxe) Back To Black: Deluxe Edition you'll love them both! oh yeah the next single is stepping stone.

I have listened to this album a dozen times now. It is engaging enough but it dosen't break any new boundries, in fact quite the opposite. The Script take the best elements from some of the most acclaimed artists (Sting, Paulo Nutini) but fail to create a mould of its own. At times i was left pleading with the guitarist to become more aggressive, or come to that any of the musicians to stamp thier mark and not just provide backing music to the lead vocals. I can not see this band recording 3 albums unless they have the guts to express themselves more openly and challange the only real talent on show...the vocals

I've revisited this Album since my missus took an eager liking of the recent film translation of the musical Mamma Mia.

I've mentioned in my review of the soundtrack that I'm not a massive Abba fan, but there is something about the music that makes it incredibly likable. I'm not going to go through all the tracks on this double CD, but each song feels very independently crafted. No two sound the same.

There are no weak tracks here and the album is the perfect showcase for the pop phenomenon. Most cheesy pop songs over recent times have been basic stories of love, loss ...or lost love - but here there's a wide variation in subject matter. Most are to do with relationships, but they tend to tell a story rather than give a formulaic four minutes of music. This is no doubt one of the strengths of Abba, and a reason as to why this album is still popular today - it hasn't really dated. The spectrum of moods and types of music used is wider than what you'd usually find on a pop album, it is testament to the pure creative energy the group had and stops it from ever going stale.

In a nutshell: This goes beyond empty shallow pop music, it is a celebration of how creative genius can give birth to individual nuggets of musical gold. The tracks are incredibly catchy and they haunt you for hours after listening to them. This isn't great in the same way that a Bob Dylan album is great, there's no political message that will inspire you to stand up and be counted. This album is great because it uses sounds fresh and fun. Practically everyone is familiar with the majority of the tracks on this album, but it's only when you sit and listen to them that you appreciate how much work has gone into them. I'm not an Abba fan, but I do recognise the impact that this music has had - and I can't help but enjoy it when 'my wife puts it on'.

On first hearing I made all the same comparisons, more or less, as other reviewers did. I liked the harmonies, and anticipated that I may be adding the FFs to my regular listening.

On second hearing I once again felt that flush of expectation as the first track kicked in. About half an hour later I had this vague sense of an irritating noise in my ears and realised the record was still playing. It had completely lost me, and as I listened I wondered if perhaps this was some fiendish loop tape I'd been handed which just went on and on, like music on hold.

A shame, really, that they were unable to sustain the initial anticipation by varying the sound enough for me not to tune out.

A little like when you're out on a walk and you see your first bunny and think "How cute"; then you see the rest of them in their thousands, and they're not so cute any more, just too much of the same thing.

But it comes from such a catchy song that you just can't help it. But now the album has been released, it's an opportunity to see if 'the song of the summer' is just a one-off or are there other gems there too. And I'm pleased to say that the album is a very welcome surprise. Noah and the Whale have crafted a quirky, original album. The lyrics are witty and perceptive and set in music that is kind of folksy-pop. The singles 5 Years Time and Shape Of My Heart do stand out but only by a notch. All together, the album is a joy to listen to and will leave you smiling. And at just over 42 minutes, it doesn't outstay its welcome either.

I haven't read the other reviews on here (don't want to be influenced by them), but I bet more than one person has mentioned that this gorgeous, slinky little album is more than a little reminiscent of both Amy Winehouse and Duffy. In fact, it's a bit embarrassing to admit to buying this album as it's probably been put together by the producers who thought: "Hmm, Amy Winehouse and Duffy are huge at the moment - how can we produce something that's really similar, but aimed at the slightly less edgy audience. Kind of like Amy W but without the alleged drugs and bashing people in public." I imagine this is doing really well on radio stations aimed at 30- and 40-somethings. Smooth, effective vocals - there's nothing new or unexpcted on this album - but I still have been listening to it loads!

This is yet another uplifting and life-affirming effort from Seth Lakeman.

He seems to really divide opinion. I know a lot of people think he is overrated but I find it impossible to see him as anything other than one of the finest musicians currently working in this country! He is a superlative musician technically, able to play numerous instruments to a very high standard, a warm and inspiring singer and a first rate songwriter. The nay sayers need to seriously listen to him and not let some trad-folk prejudice against people who get things moving with a jaunty rhythm blind them. Listening to him is inspiring even when his songs aren't of the finest.

I am into all sorts of music but as far as folk goes I am definitely at Seth's end of the spectrum, upbeat, fast-moving, exciting folk. He is not a finger-in-the-ear folkie, get used to it. Don't do the man down for being motivated and exciting!

This album is not his best, but it is a fine record. As usual he covers many different musical approaches, from the drum driven Hurlers to more acoustic stuff. personally I think Crimson Dawn and Solomon Browne are the best songs on the album. The latter is a superb effort, really moving and beautifully played. The last three or four tracks are a bit dull but once again Seth has triumphed!
